“The outdoor living experience is huge,” Mike Farley of Claffey Pools told Pool & Spa Professional (P&S Pro) Chief Editor Rachel Williams during their discussion of the state of the market.

Pool & Outdoor Living Industry Experiences Increased Demand

In Claffey’s experience, the current upswing in consumer demand has extended to more than just pools. “It’s the outdoor kitchen, outdoor dining, outdoor living room ... there are a lot of outdoor games, you have people asking for Bocce Ball, Cornhole. People want to view the outdoor space as just another home.”

As part of their conversation, Claffey touched on how pool professionals can balance the increased demand on their time and how to tell consumers when they can’t take on additional work.

Educating Pool Consumers

In addition to his role with Claffey Pools, Farley also runs a YouTube Series focused on pool consumer education and touches on what drove him to start this series and how can residential pool designers help navigate consumers through the process of building a pool.
