Power screeds and power floats are two key tools in concrete slabs, with the former ensuring a level surface free of air pockets and the latter helping to create a smooth finish. Replacing manual operations speeds up the job while reducing worker fatigue.

“Vibration…makes concrete consolidation better,” Carl Ellis, sales manager for Multivibe, says for power screeds. “It makes better, stronger concrete. It gets better ratings if you vibrate it.”

One of the biggest changes emerging in this category is the power source. Just as with leaf blowers and cars, manufacturers are exploring the use of electric or battery power on lighter machines to reduce or eliminate emissions. Emission reduction is helpful for the environment as well as to create a safer workspace for indoor applications.
