Twenty of the country’s best masons once again came together during World of Concrete in Las Vegas to showcase their skills and celebrate their craft.

The annual Spec Mix Bricklayer 500® challenged competitors to build the largest and best 26-foot-long brick wall, with the least amount of errors, in one hour.

Mason David Chavez and mason tender Guadalupe Hernandez of Ranch Masonry in Houston came out on top, laying 678 bricks in 60 minutes to earn the title of World’s Best Bricklayer.

This is the second time Chavez has won the championship. For his efforts, Chavez won a Ford F250 4×4 Super Duty Truck, $5,000 in cash, a Multiquip Essick Pro12 Mortar Mixer, and other prizes.

Also during the show, mason Darian Douthit and mason tender Nigel Delmez earned “Spec Mix Top Craftsman” for building the “most sellable wall.” It was their third consecutive win. The prize for that competition was a Kubota RTV-X1140, $5,000 in cash, an Essick Pro12 Mortar Mixer, and more.
