“This courtyard is dedicated to the frontline healthcare workers who went above and beyond during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic,” reads the plaque at the Orlando Health Central Health Care Workers Memorial in Ocoee, Florida. Edwards Concrete Company, a licensed Bomanite contractor, designed and built the decorative concrete courtyard in July 2020 with exposed aggregate and a blue heart in the middle.

“The blue heart symbolizes the love and care that was shown to treating patients and protecting our community,” explains company president David Edwards. “It is designed as a thank you and remembrance for all the frontline healthcare workers and their amazing service. This warm, inviting space will hopefully facilitate a calm resting environment for all the healthcare workers to enjoy.”

Partners in the project were Cemex Orlando, the concrete supplier; Bruns Inc., the general contractor; and Ram Tools, material supplier. The plaque concludes, “In appreciation for your extraordinary service, loyalty, and commitment to your profession and community.”
