You will have a unique opportunity to share in describing the future of tilt-up concrete construction at Tilt-Up Future Think 3.0, planned for May 16, 2022 in Chicago. The one day event welcomes engineers, design professionals and contractors to discuss the upcoming technologies and ideas for the tilt-up concrete construction industry.

The event, hosted by Tilt-Up Concrete Association and Tilt-Up Lab, features will a series of talks focused on emerging technologies and ideas with promising applicability for the tilt-up concrete construction industry.

The site of the May 16, 2022 event is Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art.

The May event is the third edition of these focused think tanks. First event was organized in 2016 by the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA), and each event since has featured future-thinking ideas that have the potential to be game-changers for the tilt-up concrete construction industry.

Tilt-Up Future Think 3.0 is organized into three categories: workforce, fabrication, and concrete. The talks will be followed by a panel discussion where global experts in tilt-up design, research, engineering, and construction will discuss the potential of each idea and how it could shape tilt-up of the future. At the end of the day, there will be a focused review.

Patrick Bedarf, a doctoral researcher at ETH Zurich will lead off the fabrication discussion with a presentation on “Reinventing Formwork with Foam 3D Printing.”

His talk presents an overview of research that combines advances in large-scale additive manufacturing and material innovation.

Thus, Tilt-Up Future Think 3.0 is considered by many as more than just a conference. Organizers plan to capture the thoughts, ideas, and spirit conveyed in the event. The panel’s thoughts on each technology will be published and will serve to inform the limited research dedicated resources of the Tilt-up Concrete Community, with appropriate information to be published and posted on the Tilt Lab website.

More information about Tilt-Up Future Think 3.0 is available on the organization's website.
